TELECOMWORLDWIRE-4 June 2008-Top three e-threats in May announced by BitDefender(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
A list of the top three e-threats in the US in May has been released by BitDefender, a provider of antivirus software and data security solutions.
The company revealed that the number one thread during May was Trojan.Clicker.CM, a pop-up-ad-serving trojan distributed via infected websites.
Trojan.Downloader.WMA.Wimad.N., a trojan that loads another piece of malware by pretending to be a helper application that downloads a "codec" playing a "special type" of WMA file, came in second place, BitDefender said.
Third place went to fake (or rogue) antivirus installers, which pretend to install an "XP antivirus". The antivirus then claims to have found viruses on the user’s PC and asks for money for their removal.
