Fortinet® — the pioneer and leading
provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions — today announced
that it has significantly enhanced its FortiGuard® Center, the online
resource and update center that provides up-to-the minute information on
breaking threats, vulnerabilities and security research. Fortinet’s
FortiGuard Center and team of security research professionals support the
company’s FortiGuard Subscription Services(TM) offering — which includes
FortiGuard Antivirus, FortiGuard IPS, FortiGuard Web Filtering and
FortiGuard Antispam security research and update services.
The FortiGuard Center is Fortinet’s threat update and security research
hub, where visitors and customers can find timely threat and vulnerability
information, as well as advisories, trend reports, deep threat analysis and
the living “Virus World Map,” which shows the top ten current threats per
country. New FortiGuard Center features include:
-- Enhanced Vulnerability Coverage - A summary of new and recently-
enhanced vulnerabilities, as well as the active exploitation, for customers
to evaluate recent IPS updates in their products and focus on active
threats
-- IPS Service Update History - A historical listing of all modifications
in the IPS package that includes new and enhanced security content
-- Antivirus Top Threats - Top threats in virus/spyware, mobile threats,
IM threats and phishing are now included in the updated antivirus page
-- Mobile Description Index - A listing of the current FortiGuard
antivirus coverage on mobile threats
“In providing world-class service, we’re already pushing critical
protection updates to our customers’ devices quickly and automatically. Our
newly-enhanced FortiGuard Center provides a powerful resource for an
intuitive and broad spectrum view of the most current threat and
vulnerability landscape, helping customers to be better educated when
managing the security of their networks,” said Joe Yu, vice president of
FortiGuard Services. “These latest updates to the FortiGuard Center
represent many months of analysis of customer feedback and Web site
usability, and we are confident that the revised portal will better serve
our customers — as well as provide pertinent information to the security
industry at large.”
Data for the FortiGuard Center is culled from Fortinet’s global FortiGuard
Network, which has data centers around the world in secure,
high-availability locations that automatically deliver updates to the
Fortinet security platforms. FortiGuard Antivirus, IPS, Web Filtering, and
Antispam Subscription Services are regularly updated by the FortiGuard
Global Security Research Team, which enables Fortinet to deliver a
combination of multi-layered security intelligence and threat protection
from new and emerging network and application-level threats. These updates
are delivered to FortiGate® network security appliances, FortiMail(TM)
email security systems and FortiClient(TM) endpoint security software.
