Malware Experts Andrew Lee and Lead Author David Harley to Present at Vienna’s VB2007

VIENNA, Austria — ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, today announced that two of the authors of a newly released book on enterprise-class malware defense, entitled, "The AVIEN Malware Defense Guide for the Enterprise," will present on the subject of Phishing Education at the VB2007 conference in Vienna, Austria on September 20, 2007. Chief Research Officer of ESET LLC, Andrew Lee; a major contributor to the publication; and lead author and editor David Harley, will present a conference paper on the effectiveness of user education strategies in reducing the impact of phishing attacks.

Copies of the book will also be available to members of the press at the ESET booth, along with an opportunity to meet Lee and Harley for more in-depth discussion. "The AVIEN Malware Defense Guide for the Enterprise" draws on the experience of members of the AVIEN (Anti-Virus Information Exchange Network), comprising some of the best-protected large organizations in the world, and representing millions of users. The publication examines the relationship between the antivirus industry, its customers and the current threats facing computer users including, web-borne threats, botnets and other forms of cybercrime, and their impact on the enterprise network. The book also studies topics such as outsourcing malware management, user education, malware analysis and forensics, and how to test and evaluate anti-malware programs. Written by members of AVIEN and AVIEWS (AntiVirus Information and Early Warning System) and published by Syngress, "The AVIEN Malware Defense Guide for the Enterprise" will be available for purchase at both the book signing and bookstore on the show floor.

Contributing author Andrew Lee is an anti-malware evangelist and chief research officer at ESET LLC, where he works closely with the company’s R&D division and educates the public on the latest malware threats. He is a founding member of AVIEN and its sister group AVIEWS, in addition to being a member of AVAR (Association of anti Virus Asia Researchers) and a reporter for the WildList organization. The book’s editor and lead author David Harley is also an experienced and well-respected antivirus researcher, and co-author of another leading security publication, "Viruses Revealed." Harley has also co-written several whitepapaers with Andrew Lee on various aspects of malware defense.

ESET will also be featured in a vendor presentation given by Director of Technical Education, Randy Abrams and Malware Researcher Pierre-Marc Bureau. Entitled, "Antivirus - Zombies for a New Generation," the presentation deals with the evolution of the anti-malware industry, and a look at what the future holds.
