INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

A new anti-virus, anti-spam solution has been implemented by Eclipse Internet, an ISP in the UK, across its network, to provide improved protection for customers against problems relating to unsolicited e-mail.

Eclipse Internet selected the anti-spam/anti-virus solution from IronPort Systems, an e-mail and web security provider which was acquired by Cisco Systems last month.

According to Eclipse Internet its new system offers a record of unparalleled reliability and security and will provide improved protection for its customers from unsolicited e-mail, viruses and trojans. It claimed the solution will reduce the nuisance factor caused by spam and will help to protect customer data and systems.

The ISP confirmed the system should result in a substantial decrease in the quantity of spam received by its customers, which will reduce the likelihood of problems such as lost data and downtime. It said the solution includes two layers of protection against spam, works to identify and block a significant amount of spam before it reaches the user’s inbox, and offers the tools to enable users to check and delete suspect mail.
