Leading Enterprise Security Vendor Offers Every Piece of Required Security Technology for the Enterprise Desktop in a Single Unified Client Security Solution

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — eEye Digital Security([R]), the leading developer of system security software and the foremost contributor to security research and innovation, today announced the latest version of Blink([R]) Professional, its award-winning endpoint security technology. eEye is combining its own anti-virus dynamic heuristics technology with ’sandboxing’ technology from leading anti-virus vendor Norman Data Defense to complete Blink Professional 3.0 as a single, small-footprint agent, incorporating multi-layered security methods to protect against both known and unknown vulnerabilities in real-time, thus making it the last security product enterprises and SMBs will need to purchase to stop 100 percent of malware attacks, regardless of signatures or patch updates.

"The notion of standalone security products is dead," said Marc Maiffret, eEye’s founder and CTO. "Customers don’t want to be nickel-and-dimed to death and are frustrated over the pricing, lack of integration and added systems management costs of using multiple tools. Enterprises need integration in order to have a complete security solution and the addition of Norman’s anti-virus technology pushes Blink Professional even further ahead as the industry’s most comprehensive unified client security product."

Deployed as a software agent on a Windows-based server, desktop PC or laptop, Blink Professional leverages multiple layers of protection–more so than any other endpoint security product–to shield individual digital assets from attacks and keep systems up and running. Blink Professional delivers the industry’s most comprehensive endpoint security for attacks that are affecting users today as an integrated, optimized single agent in order to reduce the memory and computing resources needed. Blink Professional also serves as a platform to which future security functionality can be added, effectively making it the last security agent that IT has to install and manage. In addition, Blink Professional can be deployed and managed from a central location, making it ideal for distributed network environments.

Blink Professionaldelivers the most comprehensive and non-intrusive endpoint protection offering available today, combining and integrating the following proven technologies:

* Anti-virus/anti-malware/anti-spyware

* Protocol-based, host intrusion prevention system (HIPS)

* Protection from application and service buffer overflow attempts

* Anti-phishing and identity theft protection

* Stateful system and application firewalls

* Location-aware and roll-based group policy management

* Policy-based control over access to applications, system resources, registry and removable storage devices

* Local vulnerability assessment based on eEye’s Retina([R]) Network Security Scanner

* Attack and event reporting through integration with eEye’s REM([TM]) Security Management Console

"Blink Professional, as the industry’s first unified client security product, demonstrates how eEye is rethinking the basic assumptions about endpoint security–how it’s integrated, how it’s sold and how it evolves over time. Blink Professional incorporates all of the technology an enterprise needs at a fraction of a company’s annual renewal cost for their existing security agents, allowing a company to reallocate those funds to IT projects that are more core to their business," said Ross Brown, eEye’s CEO. "Organizations who are only protecting themselves with bloated anti-virus and firewalls have held off long enough; now’s the time to make the switch to utilize multiple layers of technology that provide a complete solution. For organizations who have realized some of the benefits of layered security, this is an opportunity to replace multiple vendors with one solution that allows IT departments to secure their networks more efficiently and cost-effectively."

The integrated layers of endpoint security in Blink Professional are designed and built to work hand-in-hand to provide the most comprehensive protection from targeted and propagated attacks. It protects network assets and endpoint devices from both known and undefined vulnerabilities through periodic vulnerability assessments and non-intrusive process activity monitoring, helping to eliminate zero-day attacks. Blink Professional stops viruses, spyware, malware, trojans, keystroke loggers, worms and remote exploits while assisting in the enforcement of IT and policy compliance.

A unique aspect of eEye’s product policy is that customers receive new security functionality without being charged extra for those innovations. eEye’s existing Blink 2.5 customers have been automatically upgraded to Blink 3.0, receiving virus and expanded malware protection at no extra cost. For those interested in replacing a multitude of point solutions and protecting their networks with Blink Professional for one integrated and complete solution, more information–including a demonstration and a free product trial–is available for download on eEye’s website: http://www.eeye.com/html/products/blink/index.html.

Respondents to Global Security Survey Believe More Viruses and Spyware Are on the Way

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — BitDefender[R], an award-winning provider of antivirus software and data security solutions, today announced the results of a new global security survey it conducted in November 2006. Respondents were polled on the current state of computer security, what they viewed as the most important security components and what new features they would like to see from leading security software vendors. Following is a synopsis of the responses received.

* 83% of respondents believe that computer security threats are "growing rapidly," and almost all of those polled saw protection of one’s computer system from viruses and other malware as being extremely important.

* 92% of the respondents chose "anti-virus security" as the most important component of their IT security protection. "Anti-spyware" and "anti-rootkit" ranked as the second and third most important security components, respectively.

* To no surprise, "performance" and "software’s reaction time to new threats" were the top reasons for selecting a security software solution, followed by "price" and "recommendations."

* Of the additional features offered by security vendors, 85% of the respondents chose "automatic software upgrades" as being extremely important, while the "ability to scan PDF and Zip files" and the "notification of new viruses/malware" came in as the second and third most important features, respectively.

* Topping the list of incentives that might users to switch their security solutions was the vendor’s willingness to let the user install software on multiple computers.

"The results of this survey pleasantly surprised us by showing that people view antivirus software as the most important security component," said Natalia Grosu, BitDefender Marketing Research Manager. "While we pride ourselves on all of our security offerings, BitDefender’s antivirus software leads the market, as shown in recent reviews by PC World and the leading consumer publication. Results also demonstrated that consumers and SMBs find great interest in vendors making their software available for installation on two computers - a feature which is currently offered with the BitDefender v.10 product line."

BitDefender is committed to offering its consumer and SMB customers the most powerful security software solutions on the market. The company is devoted to closely listening to consumers and SMBs, and providing them with powerful security solutions which offer protection from viruses and other malware before they become a threat.
