Managed Service Protects Nearly 1 Million Corporate Mailboxes

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. & BURNABY, British Columbia — Commtouch[R] (NASDAQ:CTCH), announced today that it has entered into an agreement to provide Commtouch Zero-Hour[TM] Virus Outbreak Protection to The Electric Mail Company.

Commtouch’s Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak Protection has been integrated into VirusSMART, Electric Mail’s proprietary anti-virus solution. Zero-Hour protection complements traditional anti-virus solutions, and is designed to detect and identify email-borne viruses and malware by providing detection and blocking of viruses within moments of an outbreak, before traditional defenses kick in. Electric Mail partners with leading anti-virus solutions to defend against email-borne threats and ensure the continuous availability of enterprise-wide email for their managed service customers.

"Commtouch is proud to work with Electric Mail to keep its customers’ email safe from malware before traditional anti-virus signatures are available," said Commtouch Executive Vice President, Avner Avram. "With over nine years in the hosted anti-virus arena, Electric Mail knows that its ability to effectively block malware without compromising network performance gives them the edge over other managed email service providers." To date Commtouch’s Zero-Hour solution is protecting over 800,000 email accounts of Electric Mail customers.

"Electric Mail was interested in Commtouch technology because its unique solution is different from other traditional anti-virus signature based solutions. Extensive testing using our Virus Master tracking system, which compares response times between vendors, showed a definite early detection edge with Commtouch’s Zero-Hour technology and we wanted to pass this advantage on to our customers. Early detection is obviously critical to limiting the negative impacts of new virus outbreaks," said Electric Mail, CTO, John F. Boyce. "The virus detection is excellent and the tools provided by Commtouch made integration with our existing perimeter services easy and fast."

Commtouch’s Zero-Hour solution is licensed to security vendors and service providers. The signature-independent Zero-Hour solution complements traditional email virus detection technologies with proven real-time virus blocking.

ATHENS, Ohio — Diagnostic HYBRIDS announces the release of the D3[R] Ultra(TM) DFA Respiratory Virus Screening & Identification Kit. This second generation kit contains an increased number and better quality of antibodies for the detection of Influenza A, Influenza B, Parainfluenza 1, 2 and 3, Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Adenovirus.

The new Ultra kit offers a significant improvement in detection of Influenza B, Parainfluenza 3 and Adenovirus with no increase in background effects or non-specific results because of the improved antibodies. The one-step direct detection kit allows users to identify and differentiate seven major respiratory viruses in a 15-minute direct stain process, and it can be used for direct specimen testing as well as culture confirmation.

According to Steven Geimer, Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Service at Diagnostic HYBRIDS, "5% to 20% of the U.S. population gets the flu each year, with Influenza A and B being the two main types of influenza virus associated with the flu illness. RSV is the most common cause of pneumonia and other respiratory diseases in children under 1 year of age. The D3[R] Ultra(TM) DFA kit makes it easy and cost-effective to identify those patients with severe respiratory illness regardless of the infecting virus (Influenza A or B, RSV, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza 1, 2 or 3)."
