Time Extended to Upgrade to AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5 and Other Updated AVG Internet Security Products

MILLBURN, N.J. — GRISOFT, the developer of AVG security software, today announced the extension of user product support for AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.1 through February 18, 2007. Product support for users of version 7.1 had been scheduled to expire on January 15th. This change will provide additional time for users to upgrade to AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5 or other AVG products. The Free Version 7.5 provides all the benefits of the previous version, but also offers better virus protection and improves ease-of-use for users.

With version 7.5, users receive improved virus detection based on better heuristics and NTFS data streams scanning, smaller update files and improved user interface. Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5 is also Windows Vista-ready and is available via Windows Security Center as a security solution. To upgrade to free version 7.5, users can visit: http://free.grisoft.com.

"As we have millions of satisfied users who enjoy using our free anti-virus software, we continue to offer the free version 7.1, which has been updated in our AVG 7.5 security product portfolio," said Larry Bridwell, vice president of Global Security Strategies. "We’ve extended user support so that they can continue receiving daily computer threat updates as they transition to our improved Anti-Virus Free Edition or take advantage of the additional benefits with our commercial AVG products that protect against a myriad of computer threats."

GRISOFT’s AVG 7.5 security portfolio offers users several commercial security products with advanced benefits not included in the free editions. While AVG Free only provides anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, the AVG commercial products offer more security with a variety of options including additional anti-spam and firewall programs, as well as tools to detect and prevent identity theft attempts, bundled into one package such as the new AVG Internet Security 7.5.

The commercial AVG products also offer 24/7 professional technical support, high-speed updates and customizable settings. Users can upgrade to the AVG commercial security products at: http://www.grisoft.com/doc/5/lng/us/tpl/tpl01.

All AVG products have reliable and frequent automatic updates, low level use of computer resources, and unified and easy-to-use interface.

HANOI (AFP) — Vietnam and UN agencies have launched a new 16-million-dollar phase in their battle to fight bird flu, as more deadly poultry outbreaks were reported in the country’s south. While past UN efforts have focused on dealing with emergencies, the new plan seeks to establish long-term measures to reduce the risk of animal and human infections or contain them if they occur, the UN said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The reappearance of bird flu in south Vietnam last month serves as a timely reminder of the need to be fully prepared in facing this and other infectious disease threats,” said Hans Troedsson, WHO representative in Vietnam. Intego Dual Protection Product Line Gives Mac Users

Protection from the Dangers of the Internet for Mac OS X and Windows

AUSTIN, Texas — Intego, the Macintosh security specialist, today released two security packs from its new Dual Protection (DP) line to help Mac users protect both Mac OS X and their Windows installation. Intego’s Dual Protection product line features Intego’s and BitDefender’s award-winning software to provide Mac users with protection for both operating systems.

Since Mac users can run Windows on a Mac with today’s Intel-based Macs, they are vulnerable to a whole new range of security threats: viruses, spyware, adware and hackers are all waiting to compromise their Windows installation. When Windows is run in Apple’s Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop or VMWare’s Fusion, it requires Windows-specific protection. Intego’s Dual Protection product line provides security for both Mac OS X and Windows, ensuring that Mac users running Windows will have total protection for both operating systems.

Intego has joined forces with BitDefender to offer two powerful Intego DP products:

* Intego VirusBarrier X4 DP protects both Mac OS X and Windows from all known viruses. It contains Intego VirusBarrier X4 and BitDefender Antivirus v10.

* Intego Internet Security Barrier X4 Antispam Edition DP keeps Mac OS X and Windows safe from hackers, vandals, spyware, spam and phishing. It contains Intego NetBarrier X4, Intego VirusBarrier X4, Intego Personal Antispam X4, and BitDefender Internet Security v10 (which contains BitDefender Antivirus, BitDefender Firewall and BitDefender Antispam).

BitDefender offers one of the industry’s fastest and most effective lines of security software and delivers products and services to over 41 million users worldwide.

"Mac users are excited about running Windows and today’s Macs make this easy," said Laurent Marteau, CEO of Intego. "Our objective is to meet their needs with the first multi-platform security software packs that protect both Mac OS X and Windows, at an affordable price. Intego offers Dual Protection for only $10 more than Mac-only protection."

Intego is presenting its new Dual Protection product line at booth S2338 at Macworld Expo 2007 in San Francisco.

Intego Dual Protection products are available now from Intego, via its website (www.intego.com) and will be available soon from Intego’s 1,800 resellers worldwide.
