WASHINGTON (AFP) — Microsoft said it was buying antivirus company Sybari Software Inc. to expand its security products line. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Microsoft said it is aiming to offer its business customers a new range of products to combat viruses, worms and spam. Sybari bundles antivirus products and delivers them through a channel partner network.

The company has operations throughout the Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East, delivering products to about 10 million users.

Microsoft said the deal would help protect corporate customers from malicious software.

“Enterprise customers face a complex set of attacks through their e-mail and collaboration infrastructure,” said Mike Nash, corporate vice president of business security at Microsoft.
